Set the planning values Ok2Fly applies to each new flight check.

Understand how settings affect a check

Android Apple Web

Ok2Fly uses the selected pilot type, start location, visual radius, altitude and duration as context for a new query. Account access and subscription entitlements can also affect the map layers, detailed information, geometry tools and operational services available.

Review the settings before the first check on a shared or newly installed device. Changing the pilot type or a planning value can change the operating-rule result for the same location, so run the check again after saving a change.

Choose the pilot type and start location

Open the platform's settings, then review General.

Android

Open Settings. Under General:

1. Set Pilot Type to Recreational, Commercial Excluded, ReOC Holder or Micro RPA, as applicable.
2. Set Start Location to Current Location or Last Queried Location.

Commercial Excluded and ReOC require a subscription.

Apple

Open Settings. Under General:

1. Set Pilot Type to Recreational, Commercial Excluded, REOC Holder or Micro (Sub 250g), as applicable.
2. Set Start Location to Current Location or Last Queried Location.
3. Set Ruler Units if you plan to measure on the map.

Changing pilot type requires sign-in. Commercial Excluded and REOC require a subscription.

Web

Open Open Options Sidebar > CONFIGURE > General Settings. Under General:

1. Set Pilot Type to Recreational, Commercial Excluded, REOC or MICRO, as applicable.
2. Set Start Location to Current Location or Last Queried Location.

Commercial Excluded and REOC require a subscription.

Current Location starts from the device or browser position when permission and a position are available. Last Queried Location starts from the most recent successfully checked point.

Set the visual radius, altitude and duration

Under Planning Defaults, set:

• Visual Radius/Line of Sight (VLOS) — greater than zero and no more than 1000 metres
• Maximum Altitude — greater than zero and no more than 121.92 metres or 400 feet
• Flight Duration — at least 1 minute

VLOS and altitude accept metres, or a number followed by ft for feet. Use the units shown after validation and correct any highlighted error before saving.

On a new installation, the visual radius starts at 500 metres and the duration at 30 minutes. Maximum altitude starts at 120 metres on Web and 400 feet, or 121.92 metres, in the mobile apps. Replace these defaults with values that match the proposed operation.

WARNING

These values define the area, height and time checked by Ok2Fly. They do not grant permission to operate to those limits. Set the values for the proposed operation and applicable rules.

Save the planning defaults

Android

Android saves an accepted preference when you finish editing it. Return to the map and confirm the footer shows the intended values.

Apple

Select Save to apply the staged changes. Cancel discards them. Confirm the footer shows the intended values.

Web

Select Save. Correct any field identified as invalid, then confirm the map footer shows the intended values.

Run the flight check again after changing a default.

Ok2Fly separates planning defaults from other controls:

• Use Maps and weather to select the base map, static layers and supported active overlays.
• Use Notifications and advisories to review current service messages for the selected pilot type and flight time.
• Use Manage your account and subscription for sign-in, subscription and account deletion.
• Use Information, privacy and terms for privacy, terms, application details and service links.

Review these areas separately after moving to another device, browser or platform because their local state does not automatically establish that every setting has synchronised.
