1 Getting started
Use Ok2Fly to check the rules and conditions that apply to a proposed remotely piloted aircraft flight in Australia.
Understand what a check uses
Ok2Fly combines the proposed operation details with information supplied by the service. A check can consider:
- the selected point, track or operation area
- the proposed date, time and duration
- the maximum altitude and visual radius
- the selected pilot type
- operating rules, airspace, weather, NOTAM and nearby-object information available for that place and time
Some signed-in or subscription features add detailed map information, geometry tools, automated airspace-authorisation functions and operation-plan management. The controls available to you can depend on the platform, pilot type, subscription and external eligibility.
WARNING
A result applies to the values and area that were checked. Recheck the operation after changing its location, geometry, time, altitude, duration or operating context.
Choose a supported platform
Ok2Fly is available on Android, Apple and Web. Use the same account where possible so that account entitlements and supported saved information can be associated with the correct user.
Capabilities can differ between platforms. Follow only the instructions shown for the selected platform and do not assume that a control described for another platform is available.
Planning defaults, the last queried location and map-layer state are stored separately by the current Android, Apple and Web applications. Review them after changing device, browser or platform rather than assuming they have synchronised.

Ok2Fly needs an internet connection to retrieve current service information and complete account, authorisation or operation-planning actions. A map or result that remains visible after connectivity is lost must not be treated as current.
Install or open Ok2Fly
Open the Ok2Fly manual start page and use the link for your platform.
Install Ok2Fly from the App Store, then open it from the Home Screen or App Library. iOS or iPadOS 16 or later is required.
Accept the terms and important notice
Read the terms before accepting them. Ok2Fly displays an important notice after acceptance and may display it again later.
WARNING
Ok2Fly provides general advisory information. It is not for use in air navigation in Australia and does not replace current official information, applicable regulations, operational judgement or the remote pilot's responsibility for a safe and lawful flight.
- Read Terms, then select Accept to continue.
- Read Important Notice, then select Ok.
Allow location access
Location access lets Ok2Fly centre the map and run a check at the device's current position. You can still search for, or select, another location.
For the normal flight-check workflow, the mobile apps request location access for this map function and do not require camera or photo-library access. Web asks through the browser when the map first needs the current location.
- On the map, select the location control.
- When the device asks, allow Ok2Fly to use your location While Using the App.
If access was denied or location services are off, select Settings in the prompt, correct the iOS or iPadOS location permission, then return to Ok2Fly. Select Cancel when you intend to search for another location instead.
Sign in
Sign in to use account, subscription and authorisation features. The basic recreational flight check can be available in the mobile apps without signing in.
- Open Settings.
- Select Sign In.
- Choose email and password, Apple or Google and complete the provider's prompts.
Continue to Use the main map or check where you can fly.
