2 Check where you can fly

Run a flight check for the proposed location, time, pilot type, maximum altitude, duration and visual radius.

Confirm the flight-check volume

Before selecting a location, confirm the values that define the proposed operation:

• Visual Radius or VLOS sets the horizontal area around the selected point.
• Maximum Altitude sets the upper limit of the checked volume.
• Flight Time sets when the operation is expected to begin.
• Duration sets how long the operation is expected to continue.
• Pilot Type determines which operating rules Ok2Fly applies.

Ok2Fly assesses the selected point and surrounding area using these values. Run a new check whenever any value or the proposed location changes.

1. Move and zoom the map until the proposed flight location is visible.
2. Confirm the flight time and planning defaults.
3. Select the proposed flight point on the map.
4. Wait for the result and review every condition and supporting detail.

Search for a location

Search accepts Australian places and addresses, Australian aerodrome identifiers beginning with Y, and supported coordinate formats. Coordinate separators and notation differ by platform.

Android

1. Select Search.
2. In Input, enter a place, aerodrome identifier or coordinates.
3. Select a result. Ok2Fly centres the map and runs the flight check.

Enter coordinates as a space-separated latitude followed by longitude. Android accepts signed decimal degrees, such as -33.94611 151.177222, or latitude degrees and minutes followed by longitude degrees and minutes, such as -33 56.76 151 10.633.

Apple

1. Select Search.
2. In Address, Lat/Lon or Ident, enter a place, aerodrome identifier or coordinates.
3. Select a result to centre the map and run the flight check.

Enter latitude before longitude. Apple accepts signed decimal degrees, degrees and decimal minutes with optional hemisphere letters, and compact ICAO-style degrees, minutes and seconds. Select Done to close the search without choosing a result.

Web

1. Enter at least two characters in the search field.
2. Choose an Australian place or address, an aerodrome identifier, or enter a supported coordinate pair.
3. Select the result. Ok2Fly centres the map and runs the flight check.

Web accepts signed decimal degrees or signed degrees and decimal minutes. Separate the latitude and longitude with a comma or space. When both values could be a latitude, check the offered order carefully before selecting the result.

2. Select Locate.
3. Wait for the map to centre on the retrieved position and complete the flight check.

3. Wait for the map to centre on the retrieved position and complete the flight check.

Web

1. Make sure device location services are on and the browser has permission to use them.
2. Select the map's location control.
3. Wait for the map to centre on the retrieved position.
4. Select the proposed flight point to run the flight check.

If Ok2Fly cannot retrieve a position, check the device or browser location permission, then try again. You can search for the location instead.

Recheck the last queried location

Android Apple Web

Set Start Location to Last Queried Location when you want Ok2Fly to return to the most recent successfully checked point at the next start. See Configure flight-check defaults.

Share a point check

Web

After a point check, select Copy Query URL to copy a link containing the location, map, visual radius, zoom and query time. Use Copy Map Coordinates when you only need the decimal latitude and longitude.

Anyone opening a shared query must still confirm its settings and check current official information before operating.
