5.1 Create an operation plan

Create an operation plan from a geometry that represents the complete area or track the remotely piloted aircraft will use.

Prepare the operation details

Before querying the area, confirm the complete four-dimensional operation:

1. Set the correct pilot type in Settings.
2. Set the intended date, start time and duration. See Set the flight time.
3. Set the altitude values that apply to the complete operation.
4. Confirm that the required RPA is available to select. See Manage RPA devices.
5. Inspect the geometry and confirm that it covers the complete area or track without including unrelated locations.

WARNING

The plan is assessed using the geometry, time, altitude and RPA details submitted. Correct any value that does not match the operation before continuing.

Load an operation geometry

Geometries created in Ok2Fly Web can also be available in Ok2Fly on Apple. You can also import an individual GeoJSON or KML file from Ok2Fly:

1. Select Layers on the map.
2. Scroll to Geometry.
3. Select Load GeoJSON File.
4. In Files, locate the GeoJSON or KML file.
5. If the file is stored remotely, wait for it to download and select it again when required.
6. Wait for Ok2Fly to load the geometry and centre it on the map.
7. Inspect the complete geometry before using it.

Alternatively, open the GeoJSON or KML file in the Apple Files app, then choose Ok2Fly if Apple asks which app should open it.

WARNING

Do not query or submit an imported geometry until you have confirmed that it is positioned correctly and contains only the intended operation area.

Query the complete operation area

A point check assesses a launch location and its configured radius. An area query assesses the complete selected geometry and checks it for operating rules and overlapping operation plans.

1. Select the geometry on the map.
2. Select Query Area.

3. Wait for Ok2Fly to assess the entire geometry.
4. Review the overall result and every condition.
5. Check UTM Conflicts for overlapping operation plans.
6. If an overlap is listed, select its detail control to display the conflicting plan on the map, then review the available timing and trajectory information.

The area-query result includes conditions, UTM conflicts and the submission action.

If a blocking constraint applies anywhere in the geometry, Ok2Fly does not allow an operation plan to be created from that result.

WARNING

Do not avoid a blocking result by submitting a different point or smaller geometry unless it genuinely represents the complete operation that will be conducted.

Review and submit the plan

WARNING

The public title, description and operation geometry can be shared through FIMS for operational coordination. Do not include names, contact details, customer information or sensitive project information unless the service expressly requires them.

1. From an eligible area-query result, select Review & Submit.
2. Review Public Information, Flight Details, Device Information and the operation geometry.
3. Confirm the operation start, duration, altitude units, minimum altitude, maximum altitude and selected RPA.
4. Scroll to the FIMS submission terms and read them completely.
5. Accept the terms only when the plan is accurate and you can comply with every displayed condition.
6. Select Submit once.

The Submit control becomes available only after the required terms have been accepted.

WARNING

Submitting an operation plan does not activate it. Wait for the FIMS response and confirm the resulting state before taking another action.

Confirm the FIMS response

After submission, FIMS can return an acknowledgement, an authorisation or another plan state:

• An Acknowledged plan is recorded for later activation, subject to current conditions.
• An Authorized plan can include an Authorisation Certificate containing the authorised plan details and a schematic of the operation.
• A plan can remain in processing or be rejected when the service cannot accept it.

Open Operation Plans, locate the submitted plan and inspect its event history. Review any returned acknowledgement, authorisation certificate or condition.

For an eligible acknowledged or authorised plan, Activate becomes available from 10 minutes before the planned start until the planned end. The current safety checks still determine whether activation can proceed.

Recover when submission is uncertain

If a response is delayed or the submission screen closes without a clear result:

1. Do not submit the same plan again immediately.
2. Open Operation Plans.
3. Select Refresh.
4. Search for the plan using its title and scheduled time.
5. Check its current state and event history before deciding whether another submission is required.
