5.3 Activate an operation plan
Activate an acknowledged or authorised plan only after Ok2Fly completes the current operating-rule and traffic-overlap checks.
Open the activation checks
The plan must be acknowledged or authorised and within its permitted activation period. Activate is available from 10 minutes before the planned start until the planned end. If the plan is not eligible, the action is unavailable or Ok2Fly shows when activation can begin.
- Select the menu at the top right of the map.
- Select Operation Plans.
- Under Pending & Active, select exactly one eligible plan.
- Review its event history and scheduled time.
- Select Activate.
When Flight Activation opens, Ok2Fly:
- Starts live monitoring for changes to overlapping plans.
- Rechecks the current operating rules.
- Searches for overlapping operation plans.
- Displays the results under Pre-Flight Checks.
Repeated activation submissions are unavailable while a check or activation request is in progress. Activation remains unavailable if the live watch or either check cannot start.
Review operating-rule conflicts
The Operating Rules section shows whether a blocking rule applies. Temporary-airspace classes can include:

When FIMS supplies a description or geometry, select the rule to focus its location on the map. Point restrictions can appear as markers; area restrictions and operation volumes can appear as outlines and fills.
Future FIMS temporary airspace can already appear on the main map as an outline and label. Staged geometry is not itself an active conflict. Its active styling applies only when the selected operation time is within the validity period and schedule. The latest activation safety response remains authoritative.
WARNING
A blocking operating rule cannot be acknowledged or overridden from the activation screen. Do not activate while Ok2Fly reports a blocking rule.
Review traffic overlaps
The traffic-conflict section lists other operation plans that overlap the planned operation. An entry can include a public title, public description, conflicting plan identifier and map geometry.
- Select each available overlap entry to focus it on the map.
- Review its timing, trajectory, public information and geometry.
- Decide whether continuing is appropriate under the applicable operating procedure.
- If operating rules permit activation, select Inspect & Acknowledge to Continue.
WARNING
Acknowledging an overlap records that the displayed set was reviewed. It does not remove or resolve the overlap, guarantee separation, or override a blocking operating rule.
Use conflict information only for operational awareness. Optional public fields can be absent; do not infer missing details or try to identify another operator. See Protect operation-plan information.
Respond when a conflict changes
While the activation screen is open, live events can report a plan being added, updated, removed or closed. Messages can include:
- New conflicting operation plan;
- Conflicting operation plan updated;
- Conflict cleared; and
- Conflicts refreshed.
Ok2Fly reruns the combined check and refreshes the operating rules, overlaps, descriptions, map geometry and activation eligibility. If the overlap set changes, any earlier acknowledgement is cleared. Review and acknowledge the updated set before continuing.
If a blocking rule appears before activation, FIMS can withdraw an authorised plan. Refresh Operation Plans, confirm its newest state and do not attempt to activate a withdrawn plan.
Submit activation and confirm the result
Activate becomes available only when live monitoring is running, the latest checks have succeeded, no blocking rule applies and every displayed overlap has been reviewed and acknowledged.
- Select Activate.
- Wait while Ok2Fly repeats the complete safety check.
- If the result changes, review the updated rule or overlap information.
- If activation is still permitted, wait while Ok2Fly submits the request.
- Wait for the server-confirmed active state.
Apple
The initial request can be accepted before the final plan state arrives. Ok2Fly waits for the activation result and, if necessary, refreshes the plan state directly:
- Activation confirmed — the active-flight view opens and its timer starts.
- Activation rejected or failed — the plan is not active and the live conflict watch stops.
- Activation not confirmed — refresh the operation-plan list before attempting activation again.
WARNING
Do not treat the plan as active merely because the activation request was submitted. Wait until Ok2Fly displays the server-confirmed active state.
Recover from an incomplete activation
If a safety check, live conflict watch or confirmation cannot complete:
- Leave the plan unchanged.
- Check the internet connection and sign-in state.
- Return to Operation Plans and select Refresh.
- Confirm the current plan state and activation period.
- Start a new activation attempt only when Activate is available.
Closing the activation screen before activation completes stops its local live watch and clears the screen's watch state. Closing the view after activation has been confirmed does not close the plan or end monitoring; reopen the active plan from Operation Plans when required.
Ok2Fly fails safely when a required check fails or times out. Do not attempt to bypass a failed check.
