9 Logbook

Open your logbook

Web

Keep flight records, review your flying, record qualifications and set personal reminders in AvPlan Web. Logbook requires Premium and Logbook access on your account.

  1. Sign in to AvPlan Web and select Logbook in the top navigation.
  2. Select a page from the Logbook menu. On a small screen, select Menu to open the page list.
  3. Select Entries for completed records or Draft for entries awaiting review.

You can bookmark a Logbook page and use your browser's Back and Forward controls to return to it. Each page refreshes when you open it.

Track Logs contains recorded flight paths and metrics. Import a recorded flight to create a draft, or link it to an existing entry.

Review your dashboard

Web
  1. Open Logbook > Dashboard.
  2. Review the flying summaries and the reminders you have chosen to display.
  3. Select a reminder to review its requirements, or open the entry shown under Latest Track to review its recorded flight.

You can pin ICUS, Ab-initio instruction given, GA time, RA time, GA instructing, RA instructing, GA ab-initio and RA ab-initio in your dashboard preferences. Select a total to open the entries contributing to it.

GA and RA time use each classified entry's logged total. Their instructing and ab-initio totals use Instructor and Ab-initio instruction given, respectively. Classified simulator and ground-training entries are included. Other and unclassified entries remain in your overall totals, and draft entries follow the existing draft view.

Latest Track shows the latest entry with a linked track. Its entry provides metrics, charts, events and playback. If several tracks are linked, choose the track to review.

Drafts do not count towards activity reminders. Review and finalise drafts before relying on the recorded activity.

Record your duty times

Web

Use Logbook > Duty times to record duty periods, including duties without flights. A duty can cover several logbook entries. The optional flight duty period (FDP) is recorded within that duty.

  1. Check Display timezone before starting a duty. It initially uses your browser's timezone.
  2. Select Start duty to record the current time.
  3. Select Edit active duty to add notes, select Record flight duty period (FDP), or link flights. Enter FDP start when recording an FDP; leave FDP end blank while it continues. Select Save duty.
  4. When finished, select End duty. Review Duty end and, if an FDP is still running, its proposed FDP end. Change either time if needed, then select End duty to save.

For a completed duty, select Add duty, enter its start and end dates and times, and select Save duty. Include the correct date when a period crosses midnight. If a local time occurs twice during a daylight-saving change, choose its UTC offset. A time skipped by a daylight-saving change cannot be saved.

Only one duty can be active. Duty periods cannot overlap; one may start when the previous one ends. These records capture actual times rather than future rosters.

  1. Open a duty by selecting its start time or Edit.
  2. Select Suggest flights and tick the flights to link. Drafts and flights without precise times are labelled.
  3. To find another flight, enter an aircraft or aerodrome in Find flights, or expand Search another date range. Check any flight labelled as outside the duty times.
  4. Select Save duty, or End duty when completing a period.

Suggestions do not select flights or change duty times automatically. Select Remove beside a linked flight to remove its association; the flight remains in your logbook.

Review duty totals and history

The dashboard's Duty times card shows current duty and FDP durations, or time off since the last recorded duty. It also shows totals for today and the last seven and 28 calendar days, including today, in the displayed timezone. Select View duty times to open the history.

On Duty times, use From, To and Status, then Apply filters. Select Clear to remove those filters, or use Previous and Next to browse history. History filters do not change the summary totals. Expand a flight count to open linked entries.

Time off is the gap between recorded duties. A dash means the previous interval is unknown. Duty totals and these gaps describe your recorded activity; they do not assess regulatory duty or rest limits.

Select a duty's start time or Edit to correct it. To remove a duty, select Delete duty, then Confirm delete. Linked flights remain in your logbook.

If another device changes a duty while you are editing it, your edits remain open. Reload saved duty loads the newer saved record and replaces those unsaved edits. Use Retry if a section cannot load.

Follow the logbook walkthrough

Web
  1. Close any open logbook entry or import dialog.
  2. Select Settings > Help > Walkthroughs > Logbook.
  3. Use Next and Previous Step to explore importing flights, creating a manual draft and editing it.
  4. Select Finish or close the walkthrough to return to Draft.

The walkthrough uses an example flight. It does not import files or save entries, and you can replay it at any time with Premium access.

Set logbook preferences

Web
  1. Open Settings > Preferences > Logbook.
  2. Choose Time Display for flight durations.
  3. Set Reminder timezone for email scheduling and Default import authority for new reminders and the initial authority in Import reminders.
  4. Under Table columns, choose Entries or Draft. Select the columns to show, then drag their rows or use the up and down arrows to change their order.

Enable Aviation type under Table columns to show GA, RA, Other or Unclassified beside each entry. You can sort or filter this column.

Changes save automatically. The two tables keep separate layouts and must each retain at least one visible column. Reset columns restores the selected table's default layout. Changing the default import authority does not change existing reminder requirements.
