Create a basic flight plan

Start the plan

1. Open Stored Plans.
2. Select New Plan.

Build the route

Add at least two waypoints to create a leg. Each additional waypoint creates another leg.

You can add waypoints by:

• selecting the plus icon at the top right of the flight plan, then searching by identifier or name
• selecting the plus icon beside a waypoint in Nearest Items
• entering waypoint identifiers in Quick Plan Entry, then selecting the Return key.

Set the aircraft, weather and departure time

1. Select the aircraft icon at the bottom of the flight plan and choose or enter the aircraft details.
2. Check the forecast winds applied to the plan. Select the refresh icon to request updated forecasts when connected to the internet.
3. If forecasts are unavailable, enter winds for each leg in Edit mode.
4. Select ETD and enter the departure time as HHMM or DDHHMM. When only HHMM is entered, AvPlan uses the next occurrence of that time.
5. Review the route, aircraft, winds and planned times before starting flight mode.

For an IFR plan, AvPlan can offer direct, generated and recently filed routes when the route endpoints can be resolved. Check the resulting route and reporting points before using it.

Published-route LSALTs are added when available. Otherwise, AvPlan uses the Grid LSALT. A user-entered LSALT is retained for later plans between the same points and marks the airway designator as User.

1. Select Aircraft at the bottom of the flight plan and choose the aircraft.
2. Check the forecast winds applied to the plan. Select the refresh icon to request updated forecasts when connected to the internet.

4. Select ETD and enter the departure time as HHMM or DDHHMM. When only HHMM is entered, AvPlan uses the current date.
5. Add fuel and occupants in aircraft loading, weight and balance, and fuel planning.
6. Complete any required flight-plan submission and flight-plan reports.
7. Review the plan before starting flight mode.

Create and configure the plan

1. Open Planning.
2. Select New.
3. Select an Aircraft and, when shown, a Performance Profile.
4. Set Flight Rules to VFR or IFR.
5. Enter the route for the selected Stage and confirm that it resolves to the intended waypoint sequence.
6. Set ETD using DDHHMM, HHMM, the date and time picker, or Now + 1h.
7. Review altitude, LSALT, winds, fuel, distance and ETA in the stage summary.
8. Complete the applicable planning tasks, then wait until Draft, Pending or Recalculating is no longer shown before leaving the plan, filing it or sharing it.
