3.2 Loading, weight and balance, and fuel planning

Use the loading view to enter the people, cargo and fuel carried on a stage, then check the calculated weights, centre of gravity and fuel margin before flight.

WARNING

Use approved aircraft data and resolve every loading or fuel warning before filing or departure. AvPlan EFB does not replace the aircraft flight manual, approved weight data or the pilot's operational judgement.

Open aircraft loading

Open the flight plan and select the stage you want to assess.

Enter the load

Enter loads against the stations defined for the selected aircraft. The available stations and limits depend on the aircraft profile.

Enter the number of people and the fuel quantity in the green fields. These values feed the flight-plan summary and submission calculations.

1. Select a green value or the Edit control beside a crew, passenger or cargo station.
2. Enter the load for that station.
3. Use Quick Edit when you need to change the main loading values without moving through each section.
4. Check Total Payload, ZFW, Ramp Weight, TOW and LDW after changing the load.

1. Enter each station weight in its green field.
2. Enter Persons On Board for the stage.
3. Confirm that the take-off, landing and zero-fuel points appear inside the centre-of-gravity envelope.
4. Swipe left to review the next stage in a multi-stage plan.

For named occupants or cargo, select the white area in the station row, enter the name or description, then enter the weight. Use the passenger or baggage symbol to identify the item correctly on the manifest.

When a lateral envelope is defined, the loading view also plots lateral centre of gravity.

1. Select a Loading Profile when one is available.
2. Enter the crew, passenger, baggage, equipment and cargo loads.
3. Select Recalculate.

Check load limits and centre of gravity

Confirm that the aircraft remains within every applicable loading limit and centre-of-gravity envelope for ramp, take-off, zero-fuel and landing conditions.

• Review Load Limits and the CG Envelope after every change.
• Red values identify a missing or exceeded value. Check the aircraft profile if the envelope or calculated points do not appear.
• A lateral envelope is also shown when it is defined for the aircraft.

• Check the maximum value beside each load station.
• Check the take-off and landing weight rows and the plotted centre-of-gravity points.
• Red text identifies an exceeded station, maximum take-off weight or maximum landing weight.

WARNING

Enter RTOW and RLW only from approved operational data and resolve any value that exceeds the aircraft's structural limit.

• Review Load Limits and each weight-and-balance diagram after selecting Recalculate.
• Enterprise accounts can enter the stage-specific RTOW and RLW under Load Limits. A red value indicates that an operational limit exceeds the corresponding structural limit.
• Resolve any red warning before continuing.
• Use Layout to rearrange the diagrams and fuel sections, or Reset layout to restore the default arrangement.

Use advanced loading

The Apple 10.x loading view groups load limits, basic empty weight, crew, optional items, passengers, cargo and fuel into one stage summary.

1. In Aircraft Loading, select the settings button at the top right.
2. In Weight and Balance Setup, scroll down and ensure Advanced Loading is selected when the option is available for your account.
3. Configure loading profiles and optional items in the aircraft type.
4. Return to Aircraft Loading and choose the required profile and optional items.
5. Confirm the calculated BOW, ZFW, Ramp Weight, TOW and LDW.

When the aircraft type contains loading profiles, select the required profile before entering the load. Approved profiles are marked with a green tick. Select or clear the optional-equipment packages fitted for the flight.

Turn off advanced loading

Turn off Advanced Loading to return to the Apple 9.x weight and balance screen.

1. In Aircraft Loading, select the settings button at the top right.
2. In Weight and Balance Setup, scroll down to Advanced Loading.
3. Select Advanced Loading to remove the tick, then close the setup window.

To restore the Apple 10.x loading screen, repeat these steps and select Advanced Loading so the tick appears.

Plan fuel

Enter the fuel quantity in the green field and review the resulting flight-plan summary.

1. Expand Fuel Plan and Fuel.
2. Enter the quantity for each tank, together with any applicable Taxi, Holding, Approach, reserve or additional fuel values.
3. Select MAX to add the greatest fuel load allowed by the current weight calculation.
4. Select REQUIRED and choose Required for This Stage or Required Until Next Refueling Point when you want AvPlan EFB to calculate the required quantity.
5. Select CLEAR to remove an override and return to the calculated carry-over fuel where available.
6. Recheck the centre-of-gravity envelope and every weight limit.

Fuel planning

WARNING

MAX limits the fuel quantity by the current weight calculation; it does not guarantee that the centre of gravity remains within the approved envelope.

1. Enter the fuel quantity in the green field for each tank.
2. Enter any required Holding, Approach and Taxi fuel.
3. Select Max Fuel to load fuel up to the current weight limit.
4. Check the Margin and centre-of-gravity envelope.

For a later stage, select Clear Fuel to remove a refuelling override and restore the calculated carry-over fuel. Use the settings shortcut to change the preferred fuel units for the aircraft.

WARNING

Max Fuel does not guarantee that the centre of gravity remains within the approved envelope.

1. Enter fuel by tank.
2. Select Set Max fuel when you want the maximum permitted by the current loading.
3. Select Reset to restore carried fuel from the previous stage where available.
4. Select Recalculate and review taxi, trip, reserve and remaining fuel.

Fuel display values may be rounded. Calculations use the underlying unrounded quantities.

Review a multi-stage plan

Loads and remaining fuel can carry into later stages. Review every stage individually, especially when crew, cargo or fuel changes at an intermediate stop.

Swipe between stages or select the stage at the top of Aircraft Loading. Use CLEAR on a later stage to remove a refuelling override and return to the calculated carry-over fuel where available.

Swipe left to open the next stage. Remaining fuel and the previous crew, passenger and cargo load carry forward; change them where the loading or refuelling plan differs.

Select each Stage, update any refuelling or load changes, then select Recalculate.

Add passenger and cargo details

Named crew, passenger and cargo entries are included in the applicable load-sheet manifests.

1. Expand Crew, Passengers or Cargo.
2. Select Add Crew Details, Add Passenger, Add Passenger/Cargo or Add Cargo Details, as applicable.
3. Enter the name or description, load station and weight.
4. Confirm the section total and Total Payload.

Select Persons On Board to open the passenger manifest. Enter each occupant's name, assigned station and weight. The station total and people-on-board value update automatically and carry into later stages.

Sign or share the load sheet

1. Complete the loading and resolve any warnings.
2. Select Sign Loadsheet to add the authorised signature where the selected load-sheet format supports it.
3. Select Send Loadsheet to open the available sharing and export options.

1. Complete the loading and resolve any warnings.
2. Open Planning > Print Preview Load Sheet.
3. Use the signature control on a supported advanced load sheet, then select the share control to print or export it.
