3.3 Airspace, alerts and flight status

Review special-use airspace

Review special-use airspace and temporary restrictions that intersect the planned route.

1. Open an active flight plan.
2. Select Planning > View PRDs For Route.
3. Review each item's name, status, lower limit and upper limit.
4. Select an item to open its location in En Route.

The list includes route-intersecting prohibited, restricted and danger areas and temporary flight restrictions. If none are found, AvPlan displays No PRD Found.

The option displays the status of any Special Use Airspace (prohibited, restricted, danger or military) traversed during flight, if any.

Select an entry to expand it and display any applicable NOTAMs. Select its information button to open En Route, highlight the boundary and show a diminishing blue halo over the area.

Use Refresh in the top-right of the window to update the SUA area briefing.

Web

SUAs shows active PRD and NOTAM items affecting the selected stage.

1. Open a plan and select the correct Stage.
2. Open SUAs.
3. Review the PRD or NOTAM items shown for the stage.
4. Check active times, levels, schedule and activity text.
5. Expand Current NOTAMs where available.

• Use the map button to show an item on the map.
• Use View on Route when available to step through items affecting the route.
• Use Search SUAs to find an item in the panel.

If no active items are found, the panel reports that no active PRD or NOTAM items were found for the current stage.

Review planning messages

Review alerts and status messages associated with the flight plan.

1. Select Planning > Messages / Flight Status.
2. Select a message to toggle its read status.
3. Select Read in the app bar to mark all displayed messages as read.

Unread messages display their body text. Read messages are collapsed into a compact row. The list is blank when there are no messages to display.

After successfully lodging a flight plan to NAIPS, AvPlan retrieves available information related to the plan. Flight Status messages can report:

• A new SPECI METAR for a landing point in the plan.
• An amended TAF for a landing point in the plan.
• A SIGMET or AIRMET covering the flight-plan track.
• A new NOTAM for a landing point in the plan.

Mark a message as read to collapse it and save space.

Configure these notifications under Settings > Notifications.

The messages pane is blank when there are no updated or new items to display.

Web

Messages shows planning-related messages and alerts.

1. Open Planning > Messages.
2. Select a message to expand it.
3. Review the message text and any attached image.

• Use Read to mark an unread message as read.
• Use Unread to mark a read message as unread.
• Use Mark All Read when there are multiple unread messages.

Enable browser notifications under Settings > Preferences > Browser Notifications.

The Messages tab shows a badge when unread planning messages are available.
