Share or export a flight plan

Select the Send/Share icon below the flight plan, then choose the action required:

  • Submit Flight Plan opens flight-plan submission.
  • Send Flight Plan.. prepares a GPX flight plan for another AvPlan EFB device, including transfer by AirDrop.
  • Export Flight Plan.. sends a GPX flight plan to another compatible app.
  • Send FPL Export.. prepares an FPL file for compatible Garmin handheld and panel units.
  • Sync Plan via Cloud synchronises the plan to other devices when Sync Flight Plans is enabled.
  • Tweet Flight.. and Facebook Flight.. share flight details through the corresponding service.

Options for Jeppesen FliteDeck, Garmin Pilot, ForeFlight, Dynon SkyView and Avidyne IFD appear only when the required app, connection or setting is available.

Receive a shared flight plan

When a plan arrives by AirDrop, select Accept, then follow the prompt to open it in AvPlan EFB.

When a plan arrives as an email attachment:

Do not select the attachment's download button. Open the attachment itself so that Apple sharing options become available.

  1. Select the attachment.
  2. Select the Apple share button.
  3. Select AvPlan EFB.

Send a flight plan to Dynon SkyView

This option appears only when Enable Dynon Connection is turned on under Settings > External Devices > Dynon Status.

Prerequisites:

  • Dynon Skyview 1000 or 700 unit (excludes D10A)
  • SkyView 13.0 System Software (minimum)
  • Dynon WiFi adaptor installed in SkyView unit(s). NOTE: A WiFi adaptor is required for each screen installed in the aircraft.
  • Dynon Connection enabled under Settings > External Devices > Dynon Status.

Process:

  1. Power up the Dynon SkyView unit(s).
  2. Connect the iPad to the WiFi hotspot created by the Dynon Skyview – via the iPad’s Settings app. (Refer to your Dynon Skyview documentation for more information regarding setting up the WiFi hotspot).
  3. Return to AvPlan EFB and complete the flight plan. Select Send/Share.
  4. Select Send to Dynon.
  5. On the Dynon display, select Accept to import the flight plan.

Send a flight plan to Jeppesen FliteDeck

Upon selecting this menu item, the FliteDeck app will automatically open and present you with the option to either Save or Load the imported flight plan. To utilise the flight plan right away, select Load.

This menu item will only be displayed if you have the Jeppesen FliteDeck app installed on your device. A separate subscription to Jeppesen is required.

Send a flight plan to Avidyne IFD-Series avionics

This option appears only when Enable Avidyne Connection is turned on under Settings > External Devices > Avidyne Status.

Prerequisites:

  • Avidyne IFD 550, 540 or 440
  • iPad Bluetooth/WiFi turned ON

Process:

  1. Power up the Avidyne unit
  2. Agree to turn on Bluetooth/Wifi on Avidyne touchscreen
  3. After a few seconds, confirm the connection under Settings > External Devices > Avidyne IFR 440/540/550 Status.
  4. Complete the flight plan, then select Send/Share below the flight plan.

  1. Select Send Flight Plan to IFD.
  2. On the IFD, open the route from the Routes list and select Activate.

Send a flight plan to Garmin Pilot

Upon selecting this menu item, the Garmin Pilot app will automatically open and present you with the option to Load the received flight plan.

The flight plan can then be sent to aircraft avionics from Garmin Pilot via the FlightStream system.

This menu item will only be displayed if you have the Garmin Pilot app installed on your device. A separate subscription to Garmin is required.

Transfer a flight plan with AirDrop

If no internet access is available, AirDrop can transfer a flight plan or aircraft model directly between Apple devices.

To transfer a flight plan:

  1. Complete the plan on the source device.

  2. Open AvPlan EFB on the target device.

  3. Enable AirDrop on both devices and make the target device discoverable.

  4. On the source device, select the Send/Share icon below the flight plan.

  5. Select Send Flight Plan...

  6. In the AirDrop section, select the target device.

  7. On the target device, select Accept, then open the plan in AvPlan EFB.

  8. Confirm that the plan is available on both devices.
