6.3 Weather charts and imagery

Satellite and imagery products depend on the selected region and the data currently supplied to AvPlan.

Android

1. Select Weather.
2. Expand Australia or New Zealand.
3. Select Satellite Imagery.
4. Select Overlays, then choose Visible Greyscale, IR + Lightning, IR Greyscale, IR + Zehr or Visible Color.
5. Pan or zoom the map, then use the time controls to review available images.

Apple

1. Select Weather.
2. Under Australia or New Zealand, select Satellite Imagery.
3. Choose Visible Colour, Visible Greyscale, IR Greyscale, IR + Zehr or IR + Lightning.
4. Pan or zoom the map, then use the previous, next or play controls to review available images.

Web

1. Select Weather.
2. Expand the required region when more than one region is available.
3. Select the available satellite or imagery collection.
4. Select an image row to open it.

Use Search to filter the images in the selected collection.

Check the displayed capture, issue and validity times before using an image.

WARNING

Satellite imagery and third-party visualisations support situational awareness. Use current official aviation weather products for operational decisions.

View winds aloft with Windy

Android

1. Select Weather > Australia > Winds Aloft.
2. Select a point on the map to review the wind at that location.
3. Use the timeline to change the forecast time.
4. Use the altitude control to change the displayed level.

1. Select Weather > Winds Aloft.
2. Select a point on the map to review the wind at that location.
3. Use the timeline to change the forecast time.
4. Select the wind control and use the altitude slider to change the displayed level.
5. Use the refresh control if the page does not load correctly.

The planned cruise altitude, or the closest available Windy level, can be selected automatically when a flight plan is open.
