5.3 Terminal weather, runway and winds

View terminal weather

Android Apple Web
Apple
  1. Open the terminal pane for the required location.
  2. Select MET to view available TAF, TAF3, METAR, SPECI and digital ATIS information.
  3. Touch and hold a section with a magnifying-glass icon to expand it. Select it again to return to the normal view.

The view includes raw and decoded weather, issue times, active INTER and TEMPO periods, nearby reports and calculated density altitude where available. Voice-only ATIS is not available online.

Review runway wind components

Web

Select RWY to compare calculated headwind, tailwind and crosswind components for each runway pair. Use identifies the direction with the better headwind component, or either when both directions match. Best marks the row with the best headwind value.

The tab is unavailable when no runway rows can be calculated.

WARNING

Runway wind is calculated from available data. Confirm runway, wind, runway condition, traffic, and local procedures before use.

Review winds and temperatures aloft

Android Apple Web
Apple

Select Winds to view winds and temperatures aloft up to 50,000 ft. Temperatures are shown in °C with ISA deviation, and sub-zero values are blue. The table calculates the headwind or tailwind component for the leg to each waypoint other than the departure point.

View the terminal on a satellite map

Android Apple Web
Apple

Select SAT to open satellite imagery centred on the terminal or user-waypoint coordinates. Pan and zoom the view as required.

Operational information should always be verified against current regulations and official sources.
