Maps are grouped under Base Maps and Local Maps.

Base maps are the vector maps that underpin a selected raster map. You can deselect a Local Map and fly with the vector base map if you choose.

Local maps are the official maps from your region.

For better performance on an older device, choose VFR Dark as the base map. VFR Light contains more terrain shading and may render more slowly.

Depending on the device language, Mega VFR may be named Sectional.

Apple

Maps are grouped under Local Maps, which apply to the current GPS position, and All Maps, which contains the complete catalogue.

The download state for the maps is also displayed:

Saved	The complete map is stored on the device.
Sections Saved	Selected regions are stored. Use Settings > Data Downloads to download another region.
Not Saved	No part of the map is stored. It may be viewed while online, but must be downloaded before it can be used without a data connection.

Mega VFR combines WAC, VNC, VTC and VTC inset scales and selects the appropriate chart for the area and zoom level. It is the recommended default for most VFR flights.

Integrated charts do not show information printed in VTC margins. Download the relevant VTC under Text > Documentation and review its border notes before operating on a depicted visual route.

En Route Lo combines ERC-Lo and Terminal Area Charts across their available scales.

New Zealand subscribers can also display individual en route low charts to read notes and legends that are not visible in the combined chart.

Web

Use Maps to choose the base map shown under overlays and planning features.

Dynamic VFR

• Dynamic VFR uses the dynamic map style.
• Use this map when you want scalable map detail and overlays together.

Charts

• VFR shows VFR chart tiles where available.
• ERC Low shows low en route chart tiles where available.
• ERC High shows high en route chart tiles where available.

Changing Map Type

1. Open En Route.
2. Press Maps.
3. Select Dynamic VFR, or open Charts and select VFR, ERC Low, or ERC High.
4. Wait for the selected map layer to load.

Some map types or chart tiles may depend on account access, subscription status, region, and data availability.

Centre on aircraft

Centre the map on the aircraft

Select Centre on Aircraft to switch between two modes:

Android and Apple Android and Apple	Free mode	The map remains stationary and the own-aircraft symbol moves across it.
Android and Apple Android and Apple	Locked mode	The own-aircraft symbol remains fixed and the map moves beneath it.

In locked mode, the own-aircraft symbol remains in the centre of the map. Pan the map to return to free mode.

Use Track Up mode

In Track Up mode, the symbol appears in the lower third of the screen to show more of the map ahead.

Change map orientation

Select Map Orientation to move through the available modes:

Android and Apple Android and Apple	Free rotation	Rotate the pinch gesture to rotate the map.
Android and Apple Android and Apple	North up	Keeps magnetic north at the top of the screen.
Android and Apple Android and Apple	Planned track up	Keeps the current flight-plan leg pointing towards the top of the screen.
Android and Apple Android and Apple	Track up	Keeps the aircraft track pointing towards the top of the screen.
