2.1 Manage saved flight plans
Manage saved flight plans
The flight plan index lists saved plans and key details such as route or custom name, callsign, flight rules, distance and planned times.
Select a plan to open it. A plan stored in AvPlan Cloud but not on the current device downloads when selected.
WARNING
An internet connection is required to synchronise or download a flight plan.
Change the plan order
- Select Plan Order.
- Select Date to show the newest plans first, or Custom to use a manually arranged order.
Date order groups plans by month and year. Plans with a future ETD appear under Upcoming Flights. In custom order, touch and hold a plan or folder, then drag it to the required position.
Create a folder
- From All Flights, select Folder.
- Enter a folder name.
- Select Add.
Folders can contain plans, other folders or both.
Identify local and cloud plans
| Location | Icon | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Local Flight Plans | Stored on the current device. | |
| Other Flight Plans | Stored in AvPlan Cloud but not on the current device. |
Read a plan summary
A summary can contain:
- departure and arrival points, or a custom name
- callsign, flight rules and aircraft callsign
- ETD, ETE and ETA when an ETD has been entered
- the created or last-modified date
- total distance
- Filed OK after successful submission.
When the plan is saved online, ETD and ETA use local time at the departure and destination and show their time zones. Otherwise, these times use UTC.
Import a shared flight plan template
Enterprise group members can import a shared template as a new personal flight plan.
- Open Planning > Flight Plans.
- At the bottom of the Flight Plans panel, select Import plan (the file-import button).
- Open the required shared folder, then select the template.
- Wait for Template imported. The imported plan opens in the plan editor.
- Review and update the route, aircraft, ETD, loading, fuel and other operational details before using or filing the plan.
INFO
Import plan is available to enterprise members. If no template is listed, ask a group administrator to share one under Enterprise Accounts > the required account > Flight Plans.
WARNING
A shared template is a starting point. Confirm every imported value is suitable and current for the intended flight.
Opening, Closing and saving plans
Open, save and close flight plans
Open a saved plan by selecting it in the flight plan index. Closing a plan returns it to the saved-plans list and retains its associated data, including track logs and recorded times.
- Select Back at the top-left of the flight plan pane.
- Select Save Changes to retain edits, or Discard Changes to close without them.
When Sync Flight Plans is enabled under Settings > User Settings, closing a plan also syncs it to AvPlan Cloud if the device is online.
Syncing flight plans
Sync flight plans
Flight plans can be synchronised between Android and Apple devices signed in to the same AvPlan account.
- On every device, open Settings > User Settings and enable Sync Flight Plans.
- Sign in to the same AvPlan account on every device.
- Close a plan to upload it automatically, or select Send/Share > Sync Plan via Cloud to start a manual sync.
See Open, save and close flight plans for the automatic upload behaviour.
INFO
An internet connection is required to synchronise a flight plan.
Review cloud-only and updated plans
Flight plans with a cloud icon are stored in AvPlan Cloud but are not present on the current device. Select a plan to download it.
If the same plan is open on two linked devices and one copy changes, the other device displays Updated Flightplan Available. Select Import to apply the changes or Cancel to keep the open copy.
INFO
To reduce repeated update prompts on an Apple device while a published plan is being edited in AvPlan Web, enable Pause device sync while editing under Settings > Preferences > Planning in AvPlan Web. See Reduce device update prompts while editing.
