9.8.2 Aircraft details and loading
An individual aircraft inherits performance and limitation data from its aircraft type, then adds airframe-specific registration, equipment, reserve, empty-weight and filing details.
Add an aircraft
- Open Settings > Aircraft Type Database.
- Select Add.
- In Create Aircraft, enter the registration or callsign and select Search by Callsign, or choose Browse All Models.
- Select the matching model template.
- Complete the guided Basic, Units, Weights, Aircraft, W&B, Loading, Fuel Tanks, Basic Perf, Photo and Review steps.
- Select Create Aircraft after reviewing the configuration.
Select Manual Editor when a suitable model template is not available or you need to configure the aircraft directly.
Complete aircraft identity and defaults
At minimum, enter the Callsign, Registration and applicable VFR reserve or contingency value. In Australia and New Zealand, the callsign is normally the final three registration letters; enter the full registration without a hyphen in Registration.
Complete the fields that apply to the aircraft and operation, including:
- Colour, Home Base, Hourly Rate and Wet/Dry?
- ICAO Transponder Address
- VFR and IFR final-reserve and contingency values
- default POB and Taxi Fuel
- survival equipment, dinghy, flight-status and default Field 18 remarks.
These are defaults for planning and filing. They can be changed for an individual flight without changing the aircraft record.
Configure weight, balance and loading defaults
Use the approved weight report, aircraft flight manual or other approved aircraft data.
- Enter Basic Empty Weight and Empty Arm for the individual aircraft.
- Enter Empty Lateral Arm when the approved helicopter data requires it.
- Add the default station loads and fuel quantities that should be applied when the aircraft is selected.
- Check the resulting loading calculation before saving.
Use the Weights, W&B, Loading and Fuel Tanks steps in Create Aircraft. In the manual editor, return to the aircraft type list and select Save Changes when prompted.
Configure ICAO flight-plan defaults
Enter only the equipment fitted to the aircraft and available for the planned operation:
- Operation Type
- Avionics
- Transponder
- Company
- PBN or PBN Codes
- SELCAL (SEL/)
- Other Avionics (NAV/).
Select only one code from each transponder group. Selecting Z under Avionics makes Other Avionics (NAV/) available for applicable additional navigation information.
WARNING
Confirm ICAO equipment and PBN codes against the aircraft installation, operational approvals and current filing requirements.
Copy or delete an aircraft
WARNING
Deleting an aircraft type or aircraft cannot be undone. Deleting a type also deletes every aircraft created under it.
Open the required aircraft type or aircraft, then use the available Delete action.
Open Settings > Aircraft Type Database. Open the aircraft type when deleting an individual aircraft, then swipe the required row from right to left and select Delete. An aircraft can also be removed from the Select Callsign menu.
