Import an aircraft file

Android Web

Use Import to import an AvPlan aircraft file. AvPlan Web can also import an aircraft profile exported from OzRunways.

Android

1. Open Settings > Aircraft Type Database.
2. Select Import Aircraft.
3. Select the AvPlan aircraft XML file.
4. Wait for the Aircraft Type … imported confirmation.
5. Open the imported aircraft type and check its details.

Web

1. Open Aircraft.
2. At the bottom of the Aircraft panel, select Import (the file-import button).
3. Select an AvPlan .xml or .ac aircraft file, or an OzRunways .ozacft aircraft profile.
4. Wait for the import to finish.
5. Review the imported aircraft that opens.
6. Select Save if you make changes.

An invalid file shows Invalid aircraft file. A successful import shows Aircraft imported. An OzRunways import also shows Review imported aircraft when values need checking or could not be transferred exactly.

WARNING

OzRunways and AvPlan do not store every aircraft setting in the same way. Follow every Review imported aircraft message. In particular, check empty weight and arm, loading stations, both envelopes, fuel capacity and fuel-table values, reserves, performance and equipment.

Importing an OzRunways profile creates a new aircraft. It does not replace an aircraft with the same registration.

The Import aircraft button is shown in the panel footer when aircraft selection mode is off. If it is hidden, select Cancel Select and return to the aircraft list.

WARNING

Before using an imported aircraft for planning, check its type, units, weights, weight-and-balance envelope, performance, fuel and aircraft defaults against approved aircraft data.

Manual aircraft transfer via AirDrop

If no internet access is available, it is possible to manually send aircraft models from one iOS device to another locally via AirDrop.

To transfer an aircraft using this method:

1. On your first (source) device, tap Settings > Aircraft Type Database and select your aircraft type from the list
2. Power up your second (target) device and start AvPlan EFB
3. Ensure both devices have Air Drop activated:
   1. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to reveal Control Centre
   2. Press and hold on the Aeroplane Mode icon
   3. Tap AirDrop
   4. Select Everyone
   5. Dismiss Control Centre by tapping the AvPlan EFB screenshot
4. On your source device, tap Settings > Aircraft Type Database > [your type] > Send aircraft details
5. Wait until your target device appears in the AirDrop section of the popup
6. Tap to select
7. On your target device, tap Accept from the popup options
8. A confirmation will appear. If that aircraft type is already on the device, a Duplicate Type Found warning will pop up. In this case, select Remove Old to replace the existing profile with this correct new one.

Version History

Web

Version History allows older Type versions to be previewed and restored.

Preview a Version

1. Open the aircraft Type.
2. Open Version History.
3. Select an entry from Aircraft versions.
4. Review the fields shown.

Restore a Version

1. Select the older version.
2. Review the preview carefully.
3. Press Save to make the previewed version current.

Return to Current

• Press Return to Current to stop previewing an older version.
• Press Reload Versions to refresh the available version list.

WARNING

Saving while previewing an old version makes that old version current. Check aircraft and Type details before saving.

Troubleshooting Aircraft Syncing

Use this section when an aircraft isn’t shown when you expect it.

If You Cannot See Any Aircraft on AvPlan Web

1. Confirm you are signed in to the correct AvPlan account.
2. Open Aircraft in AvPlan Web and check whether aircraft appear there.
3. On an AvPlan device, make sure Sync Aircraft is enabled.
4. Allow the device time to sync.
5. Restart the AvPlan app if the aircraft still does not appear.
6. Confirm the aircraft was saved in AvPlan Web.

WARNING

If you expect to see aircraft on an AvPlan device but none appear, check Sync Aircraft on the device first.

If an Aircraft Is Missing From Planning

1. Open Aircraft.
2. Confirm the aircraft exists and has a callsign.
3. Confirm the Type has required planning fields such as ICAO, basic performance, units, weights, and fuel.
4. Confirm the aircraft has individual details such as registration and empty weight where required.
5. Save the aircraft and return to Planning.

If W&B or Fuel Does Not Work

1. Open the Type.
2. Check Weight Units, Fuel Units, Fuel Type, Fuel Specific Gravity, and Arm Units.
3. Check W&B envelope points, loading stations, and fuel tanks.
4. Check the individual aircraft empty weight and empty arm.
5. Save and re-open the plan.

If Imported Data Looks Wrong

1. Open the imported aircraft.
2. Review Type details, units, weights, performance, W&B, fuel tanks, and aircraft defaults.
3. Correct any values from the POH or aircraft documentation.
4. Press Save.

Creating or editing the aircraft in AvPlan Web is not enough if the device is not set to sync aircraft.
